I am in LOVE with this place. Cute rooms, great atmosphere, and relatively friendly staff. I’ve so far had a wonderful stay here, but last night was not as pleasant as the rest of my time here has been. A date and I went down to the bar next to the lobby to listen to music and grab a drink. We stood at the bar for probably close to ten minutes without the bartender even acknowledging us. He was joking with friends at the bar and cleaning glasses, never even glanced our way (we were standing right in front of him). My date had to awkwardly try and get the bartenders attention and when he finally succeeded, the bartender had a terrible attitude when taking our order. After we got the drinks, we returned to our seats. I took a couple of sips of my wine before noticing a bit of food stuck to the outside of the glass. I’ve worked in many restaurants before so I understand that sometimes pieces of food stick to dishes, even when they have been cleaned. I thought nothing much of it until I saw a bit of food also floating in my wine. My date offered to take it back to the bar and get a new glass, and he stood at the bar waiting for a RIDICULOUSLY long time. The bartender was once again talking with friends at the bar so I decided to go up and try to help get his attention. I said “hey man” a few times to try to get his attention and finally had to shout “HEY MAN”. I explained “there’s a little bit of food in my wine, Can I get a new glass?” trying to be calm and kind because honestly I just didn’t want to deal with this guy’s attitude anymore. But his response was a dirty look accompanied by “I find that very hard to believe, but okay”. As if I was lying to him? Trying to con him out of a glass of wine even though my current glass was more than half full? I was honestly astonished by his rudeness. He then checked out the glass, his friend at the bar ALSO looked at the glass, and when they both agreed that, yes in fact there was some food floating around in my drink, the bartender got me another drink, but kept his terrible attitude. I left the bar feeling extremely frustrated.
I don’t usually leave reviews because I’ve been on the other end of them before. People have bad nights, I get it. But I don’t think there is ever a reason for anyone to ignore and then act condescending to their customers. Especially when those customers are trying their best to be accommodating and kind. But yeah...this guy was just plain rude and awful to us. I don’t want to return to the bar for the rest of my trip, even though the drinks are spectacular. I would hate to run into Mr “I find that very hard to believe” again :-/
VERY disappointed with our stay. Although I frequently visit the Adobe Bar (one of my Taos faves with the best dirty martini ever) I have never stayed at the Taos Inn until this weekend. We stayed in room 112 which happened to have the worst cooling system ever. Now, I'm taking into consideration swamp coolers suck (especially when raining) but the carpet was literally wet.and smelled dank. Secondly, we got no sleep due to the newspaper dispenser located downstairs outside our window being opened and closed all morning and night. Who reads the paper at 4am...really? Lastly, the room, for the price was matchbox tiny and did not fit 3 comfortably (2 adults and 1 child) - at all!
In the kitchen they don't know how to cook food it's always dry, plane, or not cooked. Some employees are great when I was walking around. The house keeping and maintenance gave a helping hand out. Amazing people that are working hard and still have a smile on their face. But it dose has good stuff about the place like rooms, bar, and the property has wonderful parents gave the for the people to stand around and not doing stuff shouldn't be working for that wonderful place one of my buddies that work for you was a hard worker and he has left because he was Miss treated. And for that you guys get two stars and I'll stay at the sagebrush next time I will no longer have my friends or employees eat or stay at a hotel management need to get on the game and stopped using the favorite employees and keep your hard work happy those are the ones I would go for for you
Very nice, love the vibrant and busy lobby. I would describe the rooms as a little rustic and small, but don’t let that deter you at all. I was a little disappointed the fireplaces in room are decorative not for actual use. The food and live music kept us there for dinner, which was phenomenal!!!
Great historic and restaurant. Free music in quaint bar every night. Pretty good food and drinks.
