Shortly after purchasing my home in Taos Canyon, I learned the septic was backing up and had poor drainage throughout the house. After a year of having the tank pumped multiple times, I discovered that a previous contractor had redone the leach field using a product called infiltrators and they had failed miserably. I called four local contractors who ALL claimed they could fix my septic problem using a "great new technique" with infiltrators. Fortunately, my fifth call was to Ken Swengel who immediately asked me, "where is your home?" After explaining my location, he simply stated, "that area has soil that is primarily clay and you will have to do an extended leach field with sand and rock, or build a mound system." Upon informing him of the previous infiltrator system, he proclaimed there was no way those would work in this soil and so close to the river and water table. Ken definitely knew the area, the geography, and the proper way to solve our complicated septic problem. He designed a pump system with a leach field that will handle a five bedroom, three bath home so we have room to expand if needed. It works fantastic and has proven efficient and worry free! Ken Swengel Construction Inc. is a masterful team. Ken, himself, came out and converted our attached garage into a large family room for our house. Gone are the drafts we experienced with the overhead garage door. He put in an air tight windowed door and a double hung window for additional light to the room. Timely response to our call, and he left the job site cleaner than he found it. I would recommend him to anyone for any construction project they have in mind. I would be happy to include a pic of the finished garage project.He also does septic work that is excellent. He had done a complete septic overhaul on our property just before we purchased the house.
