among the staff. Many of the mentors disliked Anthony and the Hollubs, for good reasons, and never voiced. The dissonance from this gets funneled onto clients.
Spend your money elsewhere if you can. Find a progressive place where your child will have an opportunity to explore himself/herself in a deep and meaningful way, with staff that are skilled and that work with other staff, and the clients, as a single team.
The AA and NA communities in Toas are really great, and the town is a nice place to be in. Skiing Toas is fun. There are some redeeming qualities to Shadow Mountain. The campus is nice and the daily program isn't terrible. There's good structure to daily schedules.
Lastly, this place is a business. There were cases in which decisions were made that supported business but did not support clients as individuals, nor their relationships with their parents; it created conflict.
The Hollubs (owners) themselves are interesting. They're an alt right family (recovery does not have room for this kind of philosophy). There is an element of mindlessness to them. For example, the Hollub parents stayed on campus once in a special lodge that's meant only for them. They had the clients clean their lodge, in which a client found a bottle of vodka (not something I would bring on to a recovery campus, ever).
