What you do get is marginally clean room, 1950's bath and room decor, painfully slow service in the cafe (one guy is host, waiter, cook and cashier. Instantly overwhelmed with more than 4 patrons) but the best thing you get is after checking out you know you will never stay there again.

The best part of this place was the evening front desk help. Room was nasty, part of our group with reservations was told there weren't enough clean rooms available. Staff partying in rooms all night next to our rooms. The only way I could tell cleaning staff came into my room was the curtains were opened between the two nights here. The sign on the closed bar says it all "the liquor license will not be immediately renewed because of a liability" and its dated from 2013, which seems to be the last time management put any real money in the place.

How this place stays in business is beyond me. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more dollars and get a nice room somewhere else.

I've stayed here a few times on business trips, mostly for the excellent price. The beds in each room were comfortable with crisp sheets, and that is #1 for me. The location is convenient to the Plaza for the walking type. Internet is spotty, like back in the dial up days. The art in the lobby is really cool, a warm up for the rest in town. The maintenance guys on the other hand are not customer oriented - mouths their mothers would be ashamed of. Front desk folks have been very pleasant and helpful each time I've been.

Clean room, daily maid service, efficient kitchen and wait staff, clean towels, breakfast plus more.

There is a reason this place is as inexpensive as it is compared to other places to stay in Taos. You get what you pay for. It is not so much what you get for your money it is what you don't get:

Before I booked at Kachina Lodge, I checked the reviews, which some were average. I booked anyway because we wanted to be close to plaza. On our arrival we were greeted by two very pleasant, accommodating staff. One even called Taos Pueblo to see if it was wheelchair accessible. Our experience here has been awesome. Our little dog loves the grassy area behind the pool. It is quite and calming. Come here with an open mind and relax.

It was "clean" enough. But it left room for improvement for sure. The main negative thing I have to say is that the walls were way too thin. I could here the room next to me talking. Just talking. Not even that loudly. I feel like that's a bit on the side of ridiculous.
